Comprehensive Herb Review

Do you have a year-end comprehensive herb exam coming up? Or do you feel like you need to brush up on your single herbs before you start your formulas class?

This course takes you back to the basics going over things like taste, temperature, and entering channels in a way that makes sense. It guides you through the meaning of each category. Then it goes through the herbs, highlighting the key functions of each one.

🌿 Chinese Herbs Made Simple

When I talk to students about their difficulties in learning Chinese herbs, I tend to hear the same things over and over...

... they're overwhelmed by the sheer volume of information they're required to know...

... they're confused by the Chinese names, what they mean, and how to pronounce them...

... they would rather understand WHY the herbs do the things that they do rather than just resorting to rote memorization...

... they like to have visuals, stories, or tricks to help them remember the herb properties and functions...

The goal of this course is to take a year's worth of information and make it simple but complete, highlight the key characteristics of each herb, and give you what you need to know to pass your tests and move forward in your herbal curriculum.

And hopefully it's more exciting than your typical zoom class...

Video Lectures

If you're a visual learner, the video lectures make it easy to follow along with bullet points, photos of each herb, and emojis to highlight the important points.

Practice Tests

Each section has a practice test so you can see if you've retained the information. The course has over 150 practice questions, plus extra resources on the TCMStudy.net website.

What 2,000+ Students Say

"I gave it one more go and if I struck out the third time then I was going to quit."

I'm a mother of 2 young boys, and it was difficult being in medical school as a mother during the pandemic. For the 3 terms of single herbs I was struggling to pass.

When it came time to attempt the first year herbal comprehensive exams, I wasn't prepared and I walked into the test knowing I was going to fail. My second attempt was still a struggle, and I failed again. At this point I was questioning if I should continue school, if I was cut out to be an Acupuncturist.

We utilized Nick's single herb review course and the handouts, and they were a saving grace. I could access the review course on my phone, so whenever I was waiting for class to start, or waiting in line to pick up my children from school, I could study herbs on the go.

It helped me pass my 3rd attempt with a score of 89%. I thought I would barely pass, but I succeeded even the minimum goal I had set.

— Elly

"After spending 3 months studying single herbs with a board review company, I've learned more from your course in one week than I did in all 3 months of studying with that review."

— Brandon

"I completely aced my herbal comps, both the written and the ID part, scoring 100% on both. And I attribute my success to you!"

— Ashley

"The videos are straight to the point and VERY informative. I was able to pass my herbal comps primarily using this course as my study tool."

— Bryan

"Nick's herbal review course took me back to the basics without being too basic — and then into some of the specifics without being overly specific."

— Veda

"Everything I need to know in an organized manner, and your video presentation is 100 times better than my actual class."

— Nicolai

"Chinese herbs can be overwhelming, but Nicholas gives intriguing visuals, stories, and occasional humor to help make studying fun."

— Amanda

Frequently Asked Questions

When does this course start?

This is a self-paced course. You can start whenever you want and take as much time as you need with each section. You can repeat sections as many times as you want.

Which herbs are covered?

The handouts cover the full content of the NCBAHM Individual Herb list. The video lectures cover most of it. I'm still recording the herbs that were added in the latest outline update, and they'll go in the course when they're finished. As with everything else, you'll get them at no extra charge.

What's the difference between this and your YouTube videos?

The YouTube videos are meant for students who are seeing the material for the first time. They're long and in-depth. This course is the condensed review version. It touches on the key points you need to know about each herb in order to pass your test.

Do I need the formula course too?

Not necessarily. If you're still working through single herbs, start here. You'll want the formula course when you get to your formulas class, and you'll need both if you're studying for boards. If that's you, the bundle has both for $99.

How long do I have access to this course?

Once you sign up, you have it forever. You purchase the course once, there's no subscription fee, and you have access to the course forever. You can use it now while you're in school, then come back again when you're studying for boards.

Will this course ever be updated?

Yes, I am planning to keep adding new content, handouts, and practice questions. When the course updates, you will have access to the new material at no extra charge.

What if it's not what I expected?

If you go through the course and it isn't helping or is just not your style, email me within 30 days and I'll refund you. I'd rather you put the money toward something that actually works for you.
